Cut out all template pieces
provided on your white template sheet.
Trace pumpkin and main body of owl onto
chipboard. Cut shapes out of chipboard.
Note: the
finished project shown is of 2 pumpkins and 2 owl, but you should have
enough chipboard to create 3 pumpkins and 2 owls if you would like to
create more ornaments. |

Note: For pumpkins. The thing I
like about the pumpkins is they are completely a college project. Just
kind of taking cut pieces of patterned paper and layering them over
each other, then trimming the edges. All the papers match so great
that you can't go wrong in choose which ones to use. Simple cut and
paste.
Remember, your photo will cover up a good portion of your paper too..
so try putting the picture to the side of the pumpkin and don't be
afraid to cut your picture to the shape of the pumpkin either. See the
example at right for how to cover your pumpkins with paper.

For the stems: I
use two different methods. I just simply used patterned paper to
cover them and for one of the stems I layered a
few craft stickers over the stems and then cut around the edge to
remove access. I let it take the shape of the stem.

To finish pumpkins, add small details like
rubons, label stickers, stamps, buttons or brads, ribbons and even the
note cards. You can also stitch on your pumpkins or use a pen for a
stitched look.
note: I like to
color my chipboard with ink: simply use an ink pad and rub along top
of chipboard. Inks come in all sorts of colors!
Finish the back by covering the entire
surface with one patterned paper and then cut a fabric strip to create
loop to hang with from back.

Cover main body of owl in patterned paper of choice. just as you did
with Pumpkin, but this time cover the entire surface.
Trace eye template onto back side of
patterned paper. (I used the brown Kraft paper). Then cut out.
For owl eyes: I used the circle rubons to go
around the middle of each eye. To do this, carefully cut out the
dotted circle you want to use and then apply it with the rubon stick
into the middle of each eye. You can sew around the outside of the
eyes or use a black pen to create a dashed line. I finish the eyes off
with two black buttons.
Adhere eyes onto orange pp for backing. Then
cut out, to leave thin orange line around outside of eyes. Adhere eyes
to owl

For owl wing, trace wing template onto back
side of patterned paper and cut out.
To decorate wings, choose a heart from
chipboard shapes and use ink to color. Layer Kraft stickers onto wing
and then adhere heart overlapping stickers. For added dimension you
can stitch on your stickers or use pen to create look of stitching.
Before adhering to owl, use stamp your scroll
stamp onto right side of owls chest. Then adhere to owl
(note: you can use pop dots for added dimension).
If you wish to cover the back of the owl with
a sheet of patterned paper, you can do so. To finish, cut a thin strip
of fabric and adhere it in a loop to the back of your owl using glue
dots or tape

For Mini book:
To convert your project into a mini book once you are done displaying
it for fall, simply remove the fabric strips from the back of the
project, and punch a hole into the side of each ornament. Use a binder
ring or ribbon and thread through all of your ornaments
(alternating owls and pumpkins) to create your book! I also used
some of my other elements such as flowers, my felt etsy tags and my
note-cards and punched holes in those too and threaded them onto the
binder ring.
Tie ribbon in between projects for a fun
look! |
