Ornament Star kit

I love this time of year.. don't you? I love this that are vintage but also things that are modern.

Especially when decorating for the holidays. This kinda reminded me of both. This project is fast

and easy and is great for last minute gift ideas!

Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

Get started: your stars (like mine) came in either a rust brown or a rust gold. I wanted mine cream so I purchased regular cream spray paint from my local hardware store (cheap kind works just as well as the expenisve stuff :)).

Place your stars on a piece of cardboard outside and spray paint them cream. Let dry.

Next step it to cut out the vintage artwork you have on your sheet. There are many themes and color schemes to choose from so find the ones that fits YOU.  Simply cut it out and then use a liquid glue ( I used a craft glue (the white kind that dries clear)  and apply it all over the back of your cut out. Then place the cutout on your star. Press firmly getting all the bubbles out. Follow the natural curves and creases of the star too.
Next on your Making Memories sheet, you will find lots of fun phrases or decals of all sorts. Cut out of them out the fits your theme and glue it onto the star overlapping your artowrk just a bit.

After I had both of these done, I actually took a little bit of glue or mod podge and ran it over the top of both of those pieces and then let them dry completely. Just for added protection.

Next place one of your flowers onto the star as shown. (I used a glue dots.. gotta love glue dots)

As many of you know, I love adding details to flowers by using gems or buttons for centers. You  have a mix of both so use what fits you.

Next use the word fetti and place another small sticker or title onto your star. You may want to add glue to the top of this too, just to give it some extra hold.

The next step was to apply liquid glue around the edges of my artwork..

Then I sprinkled on that fun glitter by Making Memories.. it's like a flaky glitter.. LOVE it!

I also decided at this stage that I wanted to sand my star a little bit, to let the gold or rust show through.. so use a sanding block to do that. It might also be best if you did this after it was painted and before you started your project.. but sometimes I just like to make life more complicated!  :)

oh.. my FAVORITE part.. I LOVE snow.. you know the fake snow.. that comes in little bags at christmas time? I Love applying it to projects and layouts and things... you can see here, I just added a little glue onto the flower (most glues dry clear) and then sprinkled on my snow.

I also added Snow in random parts of my star.. love it! once you apply it.. (just like glitter).. let it dry..

Add some of your vintage ribbons on the top and you are done!

These are great for the tree, but I imagine them on top of a gift, attatched to a bag.. or just given with a little note to a friend or neighbor.. OH.. and they would be SO cute in a garland going down your stairway (thanks for the idea Jamie!!)

Well I have just showed you one way to decorate your stars.. but you have so much stuff you could actually make alot more. You can find more of these stars online or at your local craft store..

you want about a 6" size of star for this project.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Thanks for being apart of the Scarlet Lime..
